All roads have led Mara Schoner to Neighbor2Neighbor. Prior to starting N2N with her life partner, Mark Yardas, Mara held a diversity of jobs: interpreter at international tradeshows, staff in international film and TV co-productions, teacher of French and the Humanities, and behaviorist for kids on the autism spectrum. She learned something from every one of these jobs that gave her the insight necessary to develop Neighbor2Neighbor’s mission. She is continually inspired by the integrity and commitment of the handpicked business owners.

Mark Yardas loves California's wild places, both rural and urban, and the pursuit of neighborly vibes—wherever they might abide. Photography, videography, writing, editing, native gardening, examining life's bigger questions and tinier details, following hunches, crunching through data... All these activities inform Mark's daily work at Neighbor2Neighbor. Mark feels grateful to run a meaningful business with his loving partner, Mara, and their two brilliant and rascally offspring, Dante and Zora.

Paula Carvalho & Pedro Inoue are designers based in São Paulo, Brazil. Paula has worked previously with several magazines and band artworks. She lives on top of a mountain in the middle of the city together with her partner, her two sons and a massive dog. Pedro is currently Adbusters magazine's creative director and has worked previously with musicians and artists from Brazil and abroad. They’ve been collaborating for more than 20 years, mostly with people they admire, such as Mark & Mara. No point in doing work you don’t love or believe in—which is not the case for our fantastic collaboration with N2N on the booklets, website and endless chats about being alive in 2018. ;-)

Erika Schickel, when she is not pursuing her first love: interviewing tradespeople for N2N, also writes books, essays and teaches writing. She is the author of You’re Not the Boss of Me: Adventures of a Modern Mom (Kensington, 2017), and The Big Hurt. A native New Yorker, Erika has absolutely no appreciable manual skills whatsoever, beyond typing. She therefore has relied on paid professionals her entire life to get things fixed. She takes this work very seriously and hopes you will appreciate the passion and dedication she has brought to it.

Zora Schoner has N2N in her DNA. The daughter of Mark and Mara, N2N’s owners, her earliest memories include learning to drive a forklift with Vatche Azirian from Alpha Productions and countless hours begging to have her picture on the magazine’s front cover. She got her undergraduate degree in Global Studies in Barcelona, Spain and became a yoga teacher in 2022. She enjoys connecting with N2N's amazing community of readers and small businesses through her production management work for N2N.
