Johnny came recommended to us by our roofer. His team installed solar panels at our house. They were the best! Our experience with them was amazing. They were dependable, prompt and reliable. Johnny was great at calling back, and he answered all of my questions. He always communicated with me about the timeline, and would give me notice if he was sending someone out. I was also really impressed by his workers. They were respectful, polite and good communicators. They are so on top of it—recently, they reached out because they had gotten an alert saying one of our panels wasn't working. They sent someone out right away to fix it. We wouldn't have even known there was an issue! I totally trust Johnny. He is so knowledgeable and dependable. We have done a lot of home improvements, and he is one of the best.

Johnny saved the day. Someone sold us solar panels and installed them on my roof with no inspections, permits or anything. Six months later, our panels still weren't activated because the installers went out of business. They had left us high and dry with no permits. We called Johnny and the very next day he sent one of his guys out. They remedied everything. They removed some of the panels, patched up my roof, pulled permits, and got the inspectors to approve everything. Johnny was easy to reach—if I texted him, he would call me back right away. His lead guy was equally responsive and communicative. They were all very professional. They did the whole thing quicker than I thought—in less than a month, everything was working.

Next Door Home Upgrades neinstalled solar panels on our roof. They coordinated with the roofing company to put everything into one contract so that we could get a tax break at the end of the year. They also handled all my permits and coordinated with the Department of Power and Water. The quality of their work was excellent. We got through our permits in the first try.
Everyone says the inspection is a huge nightmare, but our panels were approved in one sitting. Everything was quicker than what people told me it would be. Johnny handled everything—all I did was receive the confirmation emails. Everything has been seamless and easy. I didn’t have to interact with the city at all.
Johnny’s communication is great. He made everything very simple and let me know how much I would get back at the end of the year. He was very clear with the numbers. Johnny’s pricing was just below what other people were quoting me, but he was a lot more clear and honest. It turned out to be only a quarter of what we had initially thought it would cost!

Back in 2015, we had so many people walking the neighborhoods, advertising solar power, but they all had some issue. They left a bad taste in your mouth. I would always wonder if they were really interested in talking with me, or just in my wallet. Johnny was a breath of fresh air. He was more interested in educating me on what solar was. We would keep in touch each year, so when it came time to get our own solar panels, he was our first choice.
In a sales role, Johnny is very capable, professional and down to earth. He knows how to have a genuine, common-sense conversation without using industry buzzwords. He did a professional and correct installation. Last year, our electricity bill started creeping up again. We have two electric cars that were eating into our electricity. So we called Johnny and he asked us to send over the bills so that he could figure out how to minimize our usage. He installed eleven more panels for us, and doubled our solar energy.
He gave us a good idea of the permit processing, getting the city involved, etc. If there was ever a delay, it was because of Thousand Oaks not meeting its typical timeline on turnaround on permits. Johnny kept me aware of what was happening when we were out of the country. If I ever had to call him, he would respond right away. In the end, they finished $300 under budget! One of my daughters had Johnny and his team install solar at her house, too. Johnny is head and shoulders above his competitors. There's complete trust in our relationship.

We had to replace the roofing on our home. Johnny took the solar down, disconnected it all so that the roof could be redone, and then put it all back up in wonderful working order. The previous company had not done a good job on all of the details of our solar panels. Johnny cleaned it all up. He did a few things with the circuitry to make sure it was right, and corrected some errors for us. He is very conscientious and detail-oriented. If he has anything to do with a project, you know it's going to be in good shape. He is careful, prompt, and does the work in a timely manner. He was very responsive, and he sent me photos at each stage of the job to keep me in the loop. He gave us a budget, and he stuck to it. I know I can call him if I have any problems. He is in the top league. Whoever picks him is hiring a very high-quality person. That's hard to find.
