Marcos Santa Ana and the Alloi team completed the remodel of my 1940s 2 bedroom and 1 bathroom home. Alloi’s well-thought out, simple, and efficient design is what drew me in to reach out to them for the project. I needed a re-design of my home’s front façade, remodel of the existing bathroom, a master bedroom and bathroom addition, and landscape design. Marcos and his excellent team, including Molly Liu, Eddie Valle, Bassem Dawood, and Marko Boules, were excellent experts at their craft and integrated the design and construction process from start to finish to arrive at an amazing result that transformed my home into a modern place that can carry on for many more years to come for my family and I to enjoy and is truly an inspiring gem in the neighborhood. Alloi was the perfect team to work with, and I am truly grateful for their vision, knowledge, expertise, attention to details, the excellent communication and trust they established with me as a client, and the great care they put into their work.

I had met with a number of architects and contractors regarding my home remodel before I found Alloi. I honestly did not think anyone could deliver a cohesive/functional design that would address the challenges of the existing home. I decided to move forward with a conceptual study with Alloi as I felt Marcos really understood the challenge and the aesthetic I was looking for.
I cannot be more thrilled with the results of the concept study. Marcos and team embraced the challenge, actively listened to all my feedback, and delivered a beautiful design concept. They had such creative ideas to so many of the idiosyncrasies of the house. I was so blown away.

Upon the recommendation of a friend, I hired Alloi Architecture + Construction to address a problem with my home. I had a leak with subsequent damage that needed to be repaired. They did a really great job – located/fixed the leak and made all necessary repairs. They were up front and honest from the beginning regarding costs, and communication was easy. Overall, I had a great experience with Alloi.

Hollywood Hills West - August 7, 2020
I hired Alloi Architecture & Construction to replace the front door with sidelight windows on my home. As happens, one thing led to another and they ended up doing a lot of work: renovated bathroom, refinished front porch, replaced bay window, transformed three separate closets into one beautiful walk-in closet with a barn door, painted exterior, refinished all hardwoods throughout the house, and completed a laundry room makeover with new flooring and a pocket door. I am a retired graphic designer and as such have a keen eye for detail. It is readily apparent that Marcos also has a meticulous eye in addition to impeccable taste. We worked well together. I’ve owned many homes and have done renovations on all of them. All projects in the past were fraught with problems. This job was by far the largest I’ve done and it went incredibly smooth. Marcos and his team planned for everything. There were no surprises, and I was kept apprised of any extra cost with change orders. I will never do another renovation without having an architect involved. The extent of planning along with the bonus of being able to review actual floorplans is priceless. Unfortunately, COVID hit two weeks after the start of this project and work stopped while we figured out how to move forward with the job amidst a pandemic. Within two weeks, Alloi was able to recommence work in a safe and responsible manner. I found Alloi to be filled with lovely and sweet people. They are really patient, easy going, and want to please their customer. I am thrilled with the changes to my home and the quality of work.

Marcos Santa Ana built a duplex for us from the ground up. He was the general contractor on this project. Marcos is also a skilled architect so he was able to step in and correct any design flaws. Upon completion of the project, there were a few items that needed to be reworked or fixed, as would be expected on a project of this size, but he corrected them immediately without negotiation or hassle. I feel that they are priced moderate-high, but reasonable considering the quality of work and level of service they provide.
Beyond that, Marcos and his team are really nice people. They are honest, communicative and conscientious. They kept us involved every step of the way and preserved the integrity of our vision for this project. It is clear that they take pride in their work and pay attention to every little detail. Their standards may have even been higher than ours.
Our duplex came out beautiful! Having a premium product helped us attract great tenants. Marcos was a great partner in this build and we would be happy to recommend him to anyone.

Working with Marcos has been amazing! He first designed my commercial project in Century City and then our home in Beverly Hills. He is presently working on designing our ADU.
Marcos is VERY thorough. Prior to the design phase, Marcos likes to 'pick' on your likes, wants and dislikes. He has you fill out a huge form, which by the end of the exercise gives you 'clarity' on what you actually want. ALL of it makes sense once he presents the design to you. My husband and I filled out our forms separately and he very cleverly weaved our ideas together!
With the renovation of our house, he worked with our general contractor and continued to work with the engineers if there were any changes. There was no wiggle room in the budget for design. I believe his pricing is fair. I have often times asked for his opinion and Marcos is pragmatic and candid with his opinion as well.
I have worked on three projects with him. I will continue to use his services in the future as well. We have a good relationship and his demeanor is friendly yet professional.

I found Marcos on referral from an Architect-Intern who had previously worked for him. We have been working together over the last six months to design a remodel for my home in El Segundo. The design process has been exciting; Marcos and his team work hard to impress the client and present innovative ideas. It's definitely not just a me-too approach. Marcos has an office conveniently located in Culver City, and it was easy to stop by for meetings or quick discussions. I let Marcos know what I needed for each room and asked him to design the space to meet those needs, since I wanted to see something beyond my own ideas. What he put forward was really beautiful. Marcos has a very particular eye and he’s concerned with a modern design aesthetic and making the best of a property's features and a client's budget. I added little touches that I thought would help with how I wanted to use the space, which he was open to. You can also set up a shared Houzz account with him and he can show you pictures and vice versa, so there are many ways that he collaborates with his clients. Marcos has a really level head a very supportive team. Whoever you talk to in the company, they’re all ready to help the customer. They’ve managed all the city approvals and the bidding process, as well as the selection of contractors. As with any project, there have been ups and downs, but all has been handled very well. I also appreciate that Marcos was receptive to our budget needs. He was one of the few designers I spoke with who was willing to work within our price range.

I had a very positive experience with Alloi. I went through two phases with them: architecture and construction. I have heard horror construction stories and mine was the opposite—as pleasant as could be. Marcos knew my budget from the beginning and I was clear that we could not go over. We both managed the budget really tightly. If we went over the budget on something we’d go under on others. I feel really good about the whole process and the house is beautiful!

I hired Marcos Santa Ana and Alloi, Inc to do a remodel of a condo I purchased in Santa Monica in 2015. He is really smart, conscientious and thorough. Not only that, he is a pleasure to work with. He listens and is respectful and honest. The work he did on the remodel in Santa Monica was beautiful and done in a timely manner. All of his subs were excellent too. I first met Marcos when he was the supervisor on a complete remodel of my home that I did in 2007 in the Pacific Palisades. I thought it would be only a matter of time before he went into business on his own, and I was thrilled he started Alloi Architecture + Construction. I would recommend him highly.

Del Rey/Silicone Beach - December 12, 2018
We hired Marcos Santa Ana/Alloi Architecture, a design-build company, to transform our small 1-story ranch house to a 2-story modern home, increasing the size by about 1,000 square feet. We wanted to use a design-build firm because we are a busy family and it made sense for one company to supervise the entire process. Marcos managed the entire project from the design phase, to obtaining permits, to the construction, to the landscaping.
The advantage to hiring a design build company allowed for adhoc changes we made during the construction phase that sometimes required adjustments to the designs. For example, we added a skylight in our existing kitchen, we added a rooftop maintenance deck, designed another window to allow for more light in the bedroom, and revised landscaping plans several times among a few things. Since Marcos was the designer, it was easy for him to update the designs and obtain approvals faster when needed.
Marcos is current, extremely talented, patient, and his attention to detail is incredible. He held several progress meetings with us throughout the entire time with his team member/foreman until the project was completed. In the end, Marcos and his team custom-designed a more efficient home for us with drought tolerant plants, amazing landscaping, and in the end an impressive house!
We would definitely recommend Marcos and Alloi Architecture.

Our project with Marcos and Alloi to design and build our home is now about 60% complete. It’s been great working with Marcos. I like that he’s flexible and easygoing. He’s the kind of person that works with you and really listens. He readily gathers the input of the client. It’s kind of like a dance—He puts forwards his vision and then waits for me to put forwards mine. And, of course, he has wonderful ideas. As with any project, there have been delays along the way, but they’ve been beyond Marcos’ control and he keeps us well-informed at the progress meetings every other week. Everything looks beautiful so far. I especially love my windows! After Marcos finishes our house, I plan on hiring him again for another project.

Marcos really took the time to understand what I was looking for. He has a great vision and was able to help me put together something I couldn’t have imagined beforehand. Each choice he made in the design was purposeful. There’s a rhyme and a reason to every part—it’s intentional work with a clean and modern aesthetic. The whole experience working with Marcos was fantastic. He would be in touch once a week throughout our project and was very communicative, patient and generous with his time. Marcos is a perfectionist and puts a lot of himself into his work. We opted to go with different builders in the end, since the Alloi bid exceeded our budget. Marcos was there to give consultations throughout construction and answer any questions that the builders had as they completed the addition to our home. It was my first project and it came out fabulous! If we ever remodel, I would definitely hire him again.

We are still in the early stages of our design build with Marcos and so far it’s a good experience. We interviewed three firms and we liked all of them, but we really liked Marcos and his sensibility. Also, coincidentally a friend of a friend just had a really good experience building her house with Marcos.
We own and live in a one-bedroom apartment of a four-plex, and want to combine two of the apartments into one owners’ unit. We have never renovated a house before, and the learning curve is steep for us, but Marcos is so patient. Also, we are on a limited budget but he never makes us feel less than his other clients.
One thing our friend mentioned that was important to me was that Marcos is organized and a clear communicator. Whenever they would meet he would follow up to the conversation with an email outlining and verifying any decisions made. When you sign off on things, there are no surprises and I like that. I can see his good communication already with our project. Whenever we schedule a meeting, his office sends us a calendar invite with a link to a video chat if we do a meeting online.
